Guess Who Went to the Zoo

We did!

We kifed some zoo passes from Greg's mom that she wasn't going to use.  We bundled up and took Sophie for her first trip to the zoo.

We saw the elephants eating their veggies out of the snow.

When at the zoo in the winter you can't get an ice cream cone but you can enjoy ice sculptures.

Why did the peacock cross the road?

The giraffes were thoroughly enjoying their meal of Christmas trees.  The baby one was extra cute.

Our all time favorite was the sea lions.  They were so playful.  We could have watched them for hours.

This is how Sophie spent her time at the zoo. 

We had a great time.  It was New Year's Eve day and the weather was very very cold.  We liked going to the zoo in the winter because the crowds were thin and the animals were more active.  The bummer part was most  animals were inside due to the weather and there were no viewing areas in many of their buildings.  We were not there in the dark so we didn't get to see the Zoo Lights but we could tell by all the displays that it is probably really fun.

There is nothing like the feeling in a home with a new baby and that's our house these days.  We are so excited to have this precious baby girl living at our house with us.  There were days when I thought it would never happen and here it is.  I think that I cry tears of joy at least daily due to my awe and gratitude that Heavenly Father has sent this blessing to us.

I stole this crazy idea from another blog.  You make a batch of cookie dough and everyone brings their own mix-ins and have a contest for the best cookie.  We did this fun night with our wonderful friends the Larsens.

Henrie Phylip Day

We had a sad day which brought back many of our own heartbreaking memories from last year.  After quite the battle to keep him inside the womb and growing little Henrie was stillborn on January 19, 2012.

They said he looks a lot like his brother Xander

Sisters, Sisters.......

There were never such devoted sisters.  

I absolutely love theses three!  They are my best friends, I love talking to them on the phone, cleaning offices with them, playing games, doing puzzles, they are all so funny.  We always have such a good time together.   

Aren't they cute! 

 I will definitely be framing this picture.

In the future I will of course remember to take action shots and have a series of the progress.  Greg and his dad did all the carpentry and Kris did the caulking and painting.  We really enjoying doing things like this around the house and we feel like we are learning some new skill too.
